A Love Story Seven Years in the Making

San Francisco, CA — Sumner and Graham, who first met freshman year on the lawn outside Dartmouth Hall, are officially tying the knot after over seven years of partnership, becoming parents to one highly photogenic Shiba Inu, and a custom ring designed with modeling software.
The two met for a second time at Dartmouth’s main dining hall (FOCO), leaving them both uninterested. In spite of these unpromising first encounters, over the following year, Sumner realized that Graham was kind, wicked smart, and silly. And, Graham began to appreciate Sumner’s adventurous spirt, intelligence, and formidable presence.
After a year of platonic friendship, but some building romantic interest, Sumner and Graham officially got together on March 28, 2018. They were both in, and have been ever since.
The couple’s relationship has weathered time zones, pandemics, and international borders: Aman, Jordan to Huntsville, Alabama, the United States to Mexico City, and Washington D.C. to New York City. They both now live in San Francisco, where Sumner, Graham and Fia are building their California life.

The Proposal

Graham searched all over NYC for a ring that would suit Sumner’s style and finally concluded that, much like their relationship, the best things are custom-built. So Graham did what all accomplished techies do and custom-designed Sumner’s engagement ring using 3D modeling software. With ring in hand, he proposed overlooking the Pacific Ocean on Bolinas Ridge February 22, 2025.  Sumner said YES!
Sumner and Graham are overjoyed to celebrate their wedding, and to honor the many people who’ve supported them, laughed with them and have loved them through each chapter of their story. What began as a college crush turned into a best friendship, a partnership, and now a forever kind of love.
